Streetsville: Mississauga's GO-Served Village, and What the Walkability Costs

Streetsville is the rare Mississauga neighbourhood that delivers small-town walkability and a GO station in the same postal code. On Zolo’s figures, that combination now lists at about the Mississauga average. Here's what it actually costs to live in the “Village in the City” — and where the GO-line advantage genuinely pays you back.

Streetsville began as an independent village on the banks of the Credit River and was annexed into Mississauga in 1974 — it's one of the only neighbourhoods in the city that still has a genuine, walkable main street, anchored by Queen Street South's shops, cafés, and the annual Bread and Honey Festival. Unlike the planned subdivisions that make up most of southwest Mississauga, Streetsville's street grid, heritage building stock, and Credit River setting give it a small-town identity that consistently shows up in buyer demand — Zolo ranks Streetsville #3 of Mississauga's 26 neighbourhoods on a combined score of sale speed and price strength, and roughly a third of listings sell above asking.

The defining financial fact about Streetsville is that it has its own GO station inside the neighbourhood — a rarity that puts it in the same category as Port Credit and Clarkson, rather than car-dependent suburbs like Churchill Meadows. Even so, ownership costs run close to the Mississauga average (Zolo puts Streetsville’s average listing price, $1,186,000, level with the city’s on 14 September 2026), while the rental market stays comparatively thin: roughly three-quarters of Streetsville households own rather than rent, so the rental market is small. That doesn’t make it expensive: on Zumper’s 14 September 2026 reading, Streetsville’s all-unit median rent was $2,200, $100 below the city average, and down 15% year-over-year.

🚆 The GO-station premium, in plain numbers: Homes within a five-minute walk of Streetsville GO routinely command a price premium over comparable homes elsewhere in the neighbourhood. If you're weighing that premium against a longer commute from a cheaper area, run the real numbers first. Compare GO/transit vs. driving costs with our calculator →

What shapes the cost of living in Streetsville

  • Postal codes L5M and L5N cover the Streetsville village core and surrounding residential pockets along the Credit River and Mississauga Road corridor
  • Streetsville GO Station sits inside the neighbourhood, offering direct Lakeshore West / Milton line service into Union Station — no bus transfer required for most of the core
  • Ranked #3 of 26 Mississauga neighbourhoods on Zolo's combined sale-speed and price-strength score; roughly a third of listings sell above asking
  • About 75% of Streetsville households own and 25% rent — among the higher ownership rates in Mississauga, which constrains rental supply; median rent $2,200/month all units (Zumper, 14 September 2026)
  • Average listing price ~$1,186,000, level with the Mississauga average of $1,188,000; homes sold over the latest 56 days averaged ~$864,316 (Zolo, 14 September 2026)
  • Electricity provider: Alectra Utilities — heritage and older-build homes in the village core can carry higher heating costs than newer construction
  • Natural gas: Enbridge Gas — predominantly gas-heated detached and semi-detached stock
  • Walkability is a genuine financial lever here: Queen Street South's shops, services, and GO station mean some households can realistically manage on one vehicle instead of two
  • MPAC assessments remain based on Jan 1, 2016 values — in a neighbourhood appreciating faster than the city average, disputing an assessment carries real upside risk

Correction · Corrected 14 September 2026. This page previously gave Streetsville’s rents as an estimated $2,060–$2,680 for a 1–2 bedroom apartment, a 1-bedroom range of about $1,670–$3,345, and a median house rent of about $3,295, and described its rental stock as pricey. The ranges were scaled from a May 2026 listing range, and the house figure had no traceable source. On Zumper’s 14 September 2026 reading, Streetsville’s median rent is $2,150 for a 1-bedroom, $2,599 for a 2-bedroom and $2,200 across all units, below the city average, with house rentals at a $2,800 median on 11 listings. It also gave home prices as a $1.0M–$1.18M range with a $60,000–$130,000 “village premium” over the city average, which no current source supports; Zolo puts Streetsville’s average listing price at $1,186,000, level with the city’s $1,188,000.
