Peel Region Water Bill Calculator

Estimate your quarterly water bill at the rates Peel Region has charged since April 1, 2026 — water, wastewater and the Mississauga stormwater charge, broken out the way they appear on the paper bill.

Peel meters water only. This figure is on your bill as “consumption”, in cubic metres — one cubic metre is 1,000 litres.

Only single-unit accounts get the two-tier rate.
Sets the fixed service delivery charge.
Stormwater is billed by the day, so your bill states the exact count. Quarters run 90 to 92 days.
Set by rooftop area, not lot size — the exact tier boundaries are onthe stormwater charge page. This is a City of Mississauga charge that Peel collects on its behalf. Brampton levies a separate stormwater charge of its own on the same bill, calculated on a different billing unit — this calculator does not model it.

Peel bills most Mississauga households every three months, so the quarterly figure is the one that arrives. The monthly number is that bill divided by three, not a separate bill.

Why the wastewater line is not the same as the water line

There is no second meter measuring what leaves your house. Peel bills wastewater on85% of the water your meter recorded — the missing 15% is treated as water that never reaches the sewer, such as garden watering and evaporation. So the wastewater line always moves with your water use, and it is always billed on a smaller volume.

Calculation basis: Region of Peel water and wastewater rates effectiveApril 1, 2026, and the City of Mississauga stormwater rate of$128.90 per billing unit for 2026–2027. This is an estimate from the published rate schedule, not a bill. If you are behind on payments, Peel runs aWater Rate Affordability Programthat this tool does not model.

How Peel Region builds your water bill

Your bill is four things stacked together, and only two of them move with how much water you use. Peel charges a fixed service delivery charge for water and another for wastewater whatever your consumption, then bills water by the cubic metre, then bills wastewater on a share of that same volume. In Mississauga the City's stormwater charge rides along on the same invoice.

01 / The Rates

Two tiers on water, one rate on wastewater

Rates effective April 1, 2026. A single-unit residential account pays $1.1308 per m³ for the first 50 m³ in a billing period and $2.4321 per m³ above it — the higher tier is more than double. Multi-unit residential accounts have no tiers at all and pay a single $2.0204 per m³.

The fixed service delivery charge for the 5/8" or 3/4" meter on most homes is $48.09 for water plus $33.15 for wastewater, or $81.24 a quarter before a single drop is metered. Larger meters pay proportionally more.

02 / The 85% Rule

Nothing measures what leaves your house

There is no wastewater meter. Peel applies the wastewater rate of $1.4538 per m³ to 85% of the water your meter recorded, on the assumption that the remaining 15% is used outdoors or evaporates rather than returning to the sewer.

This is why the wastewater line is never the same size as the water line, and why reducing indoor water use cuts two charges at once. Businesses in the industrial, commercial and institutional class are billed on 100% of metered water instead — this calculator covers residential accounts only.

03 / A Worked Example

What 60 m³ a quarter actually costs

A detached home on a 3/4" meter using 60 m³ over a 91-day period pays $48.09 and $33.15 in service delivery, $56.54 for the first 50 m³ of water, $24.32 for the 10 m³ above the threshold, and $74.14 in wastewater on 51 m³ — 85% of 60. With a medium-tier stormwater charge of $32.14, the bill is $268.38.

Note what the tier does. Those last 10 m³ cost $24.32; the first 10 m³ cost $11.31. Crossing 50 m³ does not raise the price of the water you already used, but everything past it is billed at more than double.

04 / The Stormwater Line

A City charge on a Regional bill

The stormwater charge is levied by the City of Mississauga and merely collected by Peel, which is why it lands on the water bill rather than the property tax bill. The 2026–2027 rate is $128.90 per billing unit per year, and the five charged residential tiers are multiples of it — 0.5, 0.7, 1.0, 1.2 and 1.7 units, assigned from roofprint or total impervious area. A sixth Green tier covers properties under 26.7 m² at 0.0 units, meaning no charge at all.

Brampton runs a separate stormwater charge of its own on the same Peel bill, with its own rates and a smaller billing unit. If you are outside Mississauga, set the tier to “not in Mississauga” — this calculator models the Mississauga charge only.

Peel bills it by the day, not by the quarter. A real bill reads "1 units × $0.35315070 × 91 days" — that rate is the annual $128.90 divided by 365 and rounded to seven decimals. Because quarters run 90 to 92 days, the same tier lands anywhere between $31.78 and $32.49 on an individual bill, which is why this calculator asks for the day count rather than dividing the year by four. For how your tier is decided and how to dispute it, see the stormwater charge explained.

05 / What It Excludes

Assistance programs, and anything you are behind on

The estimate is a clean bill at published rates. It does not model arrears, late payment charges, the change of occupancy fee, or a final meter read on a move. Nor does it model relief: Peel runs a Water Rate Affordability Program applying credits to eligible bills for seniors, low-income residents and very low water users. If your bill is a problem rather than a curiosity, start there.

For what each line means, how to read the meter itself and the full set of relief programs, read Your Peel Region Water Bill, Decoded.

The Bottom Line

Most Mississauga households are billed every three months, and about $81 of that bill is fixed before any water is used. The number worth watching is 50 m³ — everything past it is billed at more than double, so a slow leak is expensive twice over, once in water and again in wastewater.

Sources & assumptions

  • Region of Peel — current water and wastewater rates, effective April 1, 2026
  • City of Mississauga — Schedule "B-4" Stormwater Fees and Charges, effective April 1, 2026 to March 31, 2027: an annual rate of $128.90 per Stormwater Billing Unit (267 m² of impervious area), billed daily at $0.3531507 per unit
  • Wastewater is billed on 85% of metered water for residential accounts; industrial, commercial and institutional accounts are billed on 100% and are not covered here.
  • City of Brampton — Brampton levies its own stormwater charge on the same Peel bill; it is out of scope for this calculator.
  • Estimates assume a standard metered account with no arrears, credits or adjustments.
